Burnout Paradise demo 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 2
Have you guys played it yet? What did you think?

I spent some time with it earlier today. It seemed Ok, but not as radical a change as I expected.

Graphically it was good. And a lot of it seemed promising but it never really grabbed me. I think a waypoint arrow during races/Burning routes would be nice. Maybe it was because I was on an SDTV but I found navigation particularly difficult, the map seemed very small and the road signs even smaller.

I didn't get the multiplayer to work AT ALL.

After agreeing to surrender all my personal details to Electronic Arts, the bloody thing sat there for 5 minutes "Connecting to Burnout Paradise servers" (EA still refuses to use XBL's actual network and server stuffs, insisting on their own). There was no way to cancel the process so when it became apparent I wasn't getting anywhere I had to revert to dashboard.

The demo seemed to have a lack of events. Granted there's probably at least one that I just didn't find but I could only find two events (Both with almost the exact same checkpoints).

Everything else is there though. The boosting, jumps, and beautiful crashes.

Your thoughts?

I haven't tried it yet. I'll let you know what I think once I get a chance.

Played it again today. Tried to go online 3 times. Actually got in 1 of the times. The other two times gave me the same problem. Making me revert to dashboard and sit through long unskippable boring cutscenes to get back into the demo. Very frustrating.

When I was online, I don't think I quite "got it". It was cool seeing human people driving around tearing it up but it didn't seem like we were actually doing anything. Nobody wanted to. Everyone was just circling the demo area looking around.

The crashes really are beautiful though. Only really struck me today, bizarrely.
